JavaScript / JScript / ECMAScript / DHTML
Although there are 3 different names for this language, all are essentially the same. Netscape developed JavaScript, Microsoft (copied it and) developed JScript, then the European Computer Manufacturers Association combined them to release the ECMAScript standard. We at Ellanet just call it JavaScript, and we use it every day. Although it can be used as a server-side language, its most popular use is as a client-side utility for quickly performing a vast array of useful tasks and DHTML effects. |
